  My hair's damaged and the cut's a disaster. Akeel used a hair dryer way too hot and my hair is two separate lengths where it should have been graduated. I think he was unable to do the cut, and simply feathered my hair at the front, thereby making it thinner and ruining what body it had. Akeel had discussed the condition of my hair, which is thin and fine, so he was well aware that it needed to be treated gently. Endless blow-drying on a scorching heat damaged my hair; and nothing could save the unprofessional cut. Even my parting was not straight when I left the salon. Things could have been worse. But I am not sure how. Akeel charges near-western prices (GHS 200 or £34) but in my opinion can't cut hair, and in my case the treatment of my hair was actually dangerous. The salon itself is not particularly pleasant - it's not part of the hotel but in the slightly odd shopping centre attached to it. I believe Akeel just rents a chair there. I eventually got a full refund but I would gladly have paid GHS200 more, just to get my hair back as it was before I went to the salon. At this stage, it's not even about living in hair purgatory. I'm just hoping my hair hasn't been badly damaged by the heat.

  My hair looks amazing - thanks to Akeel. He really knows what he is doing, especially when it comes to coloring. Great service!
